Through the Generations

The family has been on the farm for 4 generations now, with diaries in the attic dating back to 1901 detailing the yield from fields, the flow of the river and the day to day story of farming life. Now is no different, from season to season father and son will be seen in the Pegoty Hedge kitchens, on the farm or warming their bones against the Aga on a cold winter morning. We love it.

Provenance

We have been making our Organic meals on our farm in Worcestershire since 2008, and over these past years we have stayed true to our roots. Each meal is hand made in small batches, from fresh ingredients, from scratch every time. We source the best organic ingredients we can find and take special care and pride in each and every meal – down to the ‘forked’ patterns on top of the Cottage Pie!

Farming with care

Our farm is an Organic mixed farm – where we produce beef, turkeys for Christmas and grow wheat, oats and potatoes and use as much of our home-grown ingredients in our meals as is possible. We set great store in adhering to the organic ideals and as a result have a thriving natural environment in the fields and on the banks of the River Severn at Upton.  We have large areas of the farm set over to species rich planting specifically to encourage and protect wild birds, bees, insects and butterflies.

Sustainability

As farmers we recognise how important the land is to our livelihood and our population, so it’s important we tread lightly on the planet. We have a bio-mass boiler that provides all the hot water and heating for the kitchen facilities.  We also have solar panels, so we are self-sufficient in electricity (when the sun shines) generation and in fact export green energy back to the National Grid.
